The Northern Ireland Waste and Resource Management Conference is an excellent event that brings together many influencers and thought leaders in the region’s waste and resource management sector. It is becoming an important event in NI’s business calendar and is a great opportunity to renew the calls for change within the sector to ensure that we
meet our net zero targets. RiverRidge is proud to be a gold sponsor of the event, and we look forward to seeing how it continues to grow and excel in the years ahead, tackling some of the most pressing issues in this sector. Well done to Adrian, CIWM and Recycle NI and team on another successful event.

It was a great conference and LARAC were happy to be part of it and engage with fellow stakeholders in Northern Ireland. There was a really interesting mix of topics and lots of useful knowledge sharing and LARAC look forward to continuing to engage with Northern Ireland Local Authorities over the following years.

The speakers at this year’s conference were excellent. It was great to hear from environmental journalist Dan Ashby on the benefits of better communication and
engagement. He believes things are about to change because environmental toxicity, waste and pollution are rising up the agenda. David Harris, from Circularity Scotland, outlined the organisation’s deposit return scheme plans and the importance of behaviour change. James Maiden from Beauparc explained ‘forever chemicals’, also known as POPS, and the need to keep them separate from other recycling materials.

Dan Ashby, Environmental Producer, Presenter & Director

Thanks again for inviting me, it was a great event.  I really liked all the presentations. The level of expertise was beyond what I expected.  Great venue too and dinner was superb.

I had the privilege at speaking at the 2023 Northern Ireland Waste  Resource Management Conference, addressing delegates on key legal considerations impacting the sector such as the introduction of the Climate Change Act, the impact of Brexit and the Circular Economy.

As a speaker, I was well briefed in advance and received regular communication from the organising team.  The venue, Titanic Belfast, worked well, with parking onsite and good facilities that allowed for networking alongside plenary sessions. The conference was attended by an excellent cohort of industry leaders from across the sector, who clearly recognised the timeliness and importance of the content and were highly engaged throughout.

All in all, it was a very positive experience from start to finish.

I was impressed by the venue for The Northern Irish Waste & Resource Management Conference. It was a magnificent setting for the coming together of the wider industry. It was my first time presenting in my role here at LARAC, and I was made to feel very welcome. I enjoyed meeting with our Northern Irish members face-to-face for the first time and bringing some real case studies from Local Authorities to the agenda. The range of speakers was great; I especially enjoyed Harriet Lamb’s enthusiasm for the collective ability to move toward a circular economy and Dan Ashby’s encouragement to the sector to use storytelling to affect change. Inspiring. Thank you.

I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to attend today’s conference on waste management. I found it super interesting, I am grateful for getting to speak one to one with employers about the work they do! It’s a big change from reading websites and googling.
