Treacy Teague – Deputy Secretary, Environment, Marine and Fisheries Group (EMFG), Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA)

Tracey is currently Deputy Secretary of Environment, Marine and Fisheries Group (EMFG) having been appointed in May 2021. Business areas include Environmental Resources Policy, Natural Environment Policy, Marine and Fisheries, as well as leading on the Executive’s Green Growth Strategy and Climate Action Plan and implementation of Northern Ireland’s Climate Change legislation.  Prior to this Tracey had been Acting Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) since February 2020 where she led the organisation through the Covid-19 emergency response and into recovery.  Tracey joined NIEA in September 2016 as Director of Resource Efficiency Division (RED).  RED is the largest Division within the Agency and is responsible for a diverse range of activities and seeks to safeguard the quality of the environment through effective regulation of activities that have the potential to impact on air, water and land.  Other previous posts have covered operational and policy posts over a wide variety of areas including Corporate Services & Human Resources, European Funding, Urban Regeneration, Child Maintenance and working with the Voluntary and Community Sector on behalf of Government Departments.
